North Karelian Film Association (Pohjois-Karjalan elokuvayhdistys ry)
Our association promotes film culture in Joensuu and the North Karelia region. We
organize many different types of film events, screenings, workshops and the like.
Our aim is to offer a wide variety of film culture to anyone interested. Some of our
events in Joensuu take place in the traditional cinema Tapio (www.savonkinot.fi).
We also organize pop-up screenings in different parts of North Karelia.
Kino Sihis
Our own cinema, Kino Sihis, operates in the same premises as the performing arts
visiting theater Näyttämö, run by Sirkus Supiainen. The address is Koskikatu 8,
80100 Joensuu (former school building, “Lyseon lukio”).
Kino Sihis focuses on film events and special screenings, documentaries, art
house, world cinema and genre films.
